For the last 100 miles my wife got 55.7 miles per gallon – what energy crisis?

Solar Panels on Every Roof

November 6, 2007

I am not for government regulation beyond the authority granted by the Constitution, however, if the government can mandate things like catalytic converters for automobiles and the like, couldn’t they also mandate that all homes have solar panels on their rooftops? I’m sure there would be millions of square acres of panels generating trillions of kilowatts of energy, wouldn’t there?

So, why not?

Ernesto “Che” Guevara

October 8, 2007

Ernesto “Che” Guevara was killed 40 years ago today.

Isn’t it ironic that probably millions of dollars have been made from selling his image on T-shirts, mugs, etc. within the capitalistic system he fought against?

Michigan Income Tax Increase: Will It Really Be Rolled Back?

October 1, 2007

According to The Detroit News, the new bill just passed to avert a government shutdown

would ratchet up the levy from 3.9 percent to 4.35 percent to raise $760 million. The rate would begin a gradual rollback in 2011 and return to 3.9 percent by 2015.

My question: Will the income tax ever be rolled back to 3.9 percent? Ever?

I predict that the Michigan income tax will never see 3.9 percent again. Ever!

This is the way government usually works: Squeak something in via “compromise,” place some kind of “rollback” or “sunset” provision in order to get it passed, and later pass new bills that remove the “rollback” or “sunset” provision.
